The Top Sellers Get Lazy
What I’m learning right now is that the guys at the top get lazy.
I’m talking about the top sellers in your product category on Amazon.
Your main competitors.
A lot of these top sellers get lazy when their product is #1 in the category and they stop improving their listings.
This is where guys like me and you have an opportunity.
For example: One of my products, the top seller has 500 reviews.
And I only have 30 reviews.
Since I’ve come into the market, I’ve taken almost 50% of his market share.
And my listing is only getting better, while his has stayed the exact same.
I analyzed his listing and figured out where he was dropping the ball.
Better images, better title, better ppc targeting.
You have to always be working on your listing.
Always be testing, always be trying to increase your CTR & Conversion %.
Test new main images..
Test new keywords in your title, maybe there’s a word that if people saw it in your title, it would make them buy yours over the #1 seller.
Test your supporting images, try info-graphs, try comparison charts.
Test new PPC ads, maybe there’s a specific keyword that people keep searching to buy your product. Make your images lean into that keyword.
For example: If you have a Dog toy and you can see people are buying your product when they search “Durable Dog Toy”.
Put “Durable” in your title and get some new images that really push on the fact that your toy is the most durable.
You can ALWAYS keep improving your listing!
I promise you all these little things matter.
And most of the time the top sellers are just sitting comfortable.. thinking their listing is always going to be #1.
While you and I are working our asses off to take that #1 spot.
It will be slow process.
But if we keep improving our listing and they stay the same.. Eventually we will be the #1 seller.
